Assessment and treatment

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) affects central vision. For wet AMD, a retinal examination and OCT imaging help assess fluid and whether treatment with intravitreal anti-VEGF injections is appropriate. Treatment and follow-up are individualised.

Preparing for your appointment

If you are already receiving injections, bring your previous OCT images and medical reports. Tell us which eye is treated, the name of the medicine and the date of your last injection.

Increasing pain or worsening vision after an injection requires urgent contact with your treating team or a hospital emergency service.
